Milwaukee Magazine announced the winners of their inaugural Home & Design awards in 2023 during a reception at the Milwaukee Athletic Club on September 19th. Dozens of local home design businesses comprised hundreds of entries in this first-ever award contest. Contestants vied for honors in 19 different categories including:
- outdoor design
- interior & exterior remodels
- kitchen & bath design
- home décor
- architecture
- new construction
A Ranch-style Standout
J & J Custom Homes took home the bronze medal in the New Construction category, as selected by a panel of five judges. The Roosevelt – a ranch style MBA Parade of Homes Gold Medal winner in 2022 – was built in the Town of Lisbon’s Twin Pine Farm and stands out in the contest as a comparatively modest entry, while boasting luxurious aesthetics and a wealth of custom details.
Milwaukee Magazine highlighted the floor-to-ceiling fireplace and the dining room’s walnut accent wall on the 4-bedroom ranch’s main level. They noted these as expressions of the design’s elegant blend of form & function.
The wine cellar in the lower level along with the butler’s pantry & large canted garage also stood out for the judging panel.
